# River levels on the map: rising water and floods

Map · River levels

It pays to see rising water near your home or road before it arrives. Here is how to follow river levels and what to do when a flood threatens.

Prepared by the [InCaseMap team](https://incasemap.com/en/about) · Updated 26 October 2026

> **In short:** On the InCaseMap map, the “River levels” layer (in the “Weather and environment” group) helps you see rising water near your home or road. You can also turn on weather warnings, precipitation and wind layers, and the app sends phone alerts about storms and other situations. These layers need the internet. When a flood threatens, follow meteo.lt, LRT and official instructions, and never drive or walk through a flooded road. InCaseMap is a free map that shows shelters, evacuation points, border crossings, cameras, weather, hospitals and pharmacies in Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, Poland and Finland in one window.

## How to follow river levels

1. Open the InCaseMap map in your browser: [app.incasemap.com](https://app.incasemap.com).
2. In the “Weather and environment” group, turn on the “River levels” layer.
3. Add weather warnings and precipitation — you will see whether the rain will go on.
4. Official weather warnings are also published by meteo.lt and LRT.

## A flood threatens: what to do

1. It is recommended to evacuate from the flood zone.
2. When leaving, turn off the water and gas valves, switch off the electricity, take documents, medicines and food; close the windows, lock the doors.
3. Register with the eldership (seniūnija) — so that it is known how many people remain in the flooded area.
4. If you stay at home, keep in touch with your neighbours. As the water rises, go up to the top floor or the attic.
5. Need help — hang out a piece of cloth (at night — a lit lantern).

All the steps, based on PAGD — [Storms and floods](https://incasemap.com/en/storms-and-floods).

**The full map — on your phone, even offline.** 262,685 places, 27 layers in Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, Poland and Finland, 20 “What to do” and 38 first-aid instructions. ## What not to do

- Do not drive or walk through a flooded road: there may be a washed-out hole under the water, and moving water can sweep a car away. Closed roads are on the [road disruptions map](https://incasemap.com/en/road-disruptions-map).
- After a flood, do not touch broken wires or switch on appliances.
- Do not eat food that has been soaked in floodwater.

If you hear the message “Flood danger” or “Catastrophic flooding”, turn on LRT and follow the instructions. If an evacuation is announced — [Evacuation](https://incasemap.com/en/evacuation).
