The figures change when the sources update their lists. ## Shelters: what they are A shelter is a building or part of one (usually a basement or other underground space) where you can briefly hide from an immediate threat, for example when an air raid alert is announced. A KAS shelter — a collective protection structure (KAS), often called a bomb shelter — is a place set aside by the municipality for longer stays — it has [its own layer](https://incasemap.com/en/kas-shelter-map). During an alert, the type of place matters less than how quickly you can reach the nearest safe place. The data updates automatically: alerts every 1–2 minutes, weather warnings, road disruptions, fuel prices and charger status every 2–10 minutes, river levels hourly, shelter lists monthly.
