How to prepare
- Open the InCaseMap map once while you have internet: every place is saved on your phone.
- Find the areas that matter to you on the map: home, work, school, country house, and the nearest shelters.
- Test it offline: turn on airplane mode and open the map.
- Write down the LRT radio frequency for your area.
Making your phone last longer
- Keep a charged power bank and a car charger.
- Turn on battery saver mode and lower the screen brightness.
- When there is no signal, the phone drains its battery searching for a network — airplane mode saves it.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need to download anything for the map to work offline?
In the app, places are saved on your phone. Without internet the map keeps working: every place is saved on your phone.
Does GPS work without internet?
Yes. Your phone's GPS finds your location without mobile internet, so on the map you will see where you are and where the nearest shelter is.
Which app shows shelters offline?
The InCaseMap app stores all places in Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia and Poland on your phone (198,972 in total): shelters, KAS shelters, evacuation points, water and hospitals, so you can see them without a connection. Until the app is released, the map works in the browser, and every place stays available offline.
