How we counted
- Place counts are InCaseMap map data on 15 October 2026. The places come from official state data sources in Lithuania, Latvia and Poland.
- Population: Lithuania — preliminary State Data Agency figures for 1 January 2026; Latvia — Central Statistical Bureau figures for the start of 2026; Poland — Statistics Poland (GUS) figures for the end of 2025.
- “Residents per shelter” = population ÷ number of shelters, rounded.
