You have spotted a drone: what to do
- Stay calm and alert.
- Go inside a building or a shelter without delay.
- Avoid open spaces, balconies and windows. Do not hide in a room with a window to the outside, but in the corridor of the flat – there must be two walls between you and the outside.
- Close doors and windows.
- From a safe distance, watch where the drone is flying. If you can, record it and report it to 112.
- Help children, older people and animals take cover; warn the people around you.
- Follow official messages and do what the authorities say.
While driving
Stop in a safe place where you are covered from above (under a bridge or a roof) and stay in the car.
What not to do
- Do not approach a drone that has fallen or that you have spotted, do not try to catch or destroy it.
- Do not touch debris – report it to 112.
- Do not post footage you have filmed on social media – it can help the enemy.

What to do if you see a drone
- Stay calm and go inside a building or to the nearest shelter straight away. Check in advance where shelters are on the InCaseMap map, in the “Shelters” layer.
- Move away from windows, balconies and open spaces. Close windows and doors: this lowers the risk from fragments and the blast wave.
- Take cover by the two-wall rule: there should be at least two walls between you and the outside. In a flat this is usually the hallway, not a room with a window to the street. More in where to shelter at home.
- From a safe place, note where and when you saw the drone and which way it flew, and call 112.
- Warn the people around you. Help children, older people and pets to take cover.
- Follow official announcements on LRT radio and TV and the alerts on your phone. Do what the authorities tell you.
Why you shouldn’t film it and post it
LT72 asks people to pass on what they saw only by calling 112 and not to post videos on social media. To film, you usually stand at a window or outdoors — exactly where it is most dangerous. Taking cover matters more, and the authorities can work with a verbal description: place, time, direction and what the drone looked like.
A fallen drone or debris
- Don’t go near it and don’t touch it. Don’t try to catch or destroy a drone: it may carry explosives.
- Move back the way you came to a safe distance, ideally behind a solid structure. Avoid standing under windows.
- Keep other people away until the police arrive.
- Call 112 and give the exact location. The same goes for any suspicious object: you don’t need to work out whether it is an explosive.
If you are in a car
- Stop in a safe place with cover overhead: under a bridge, an overpass or a roof. Stay in the car.
- Turn on LRT radio and listen for instructions. The InCaseMap “Public radio” layer shows LRT frequencies along the way.
- Don’t stop under trees or next to sites that could be targets in a war. They are marked in the “Places to avoid” layer.
If an air raid alert is issued
- Outdoors, get to a shelter, an underpass, a tunnel or a basement as fast as you can. If there is nothing nearby, use a ditch or a hollow.
- If you can’t reach a shelter within a few minutes, go to the safest room in the building: no windows, solid walls and ceiling.
- At home, switch off the lights, draw the curtains, bring pets inside and stay in a room without windows or in the basement.
- Only make calls when you must, so the lines stay free for people who need help.
