How to find the nearest shelter on your phone
- Open the InCaseMap map in your browser: app.incasemap.com.
- Turn on the “Shelters” and “KAS shelters” layers — the map will show the nearest places.
- Tap the nearest place — its card opens with the details.
- Go there without delay. The phone's GPS finds your location without mobile internet too.
Find it in advance, not during an alert
- Look up the nearest shelter to your home, work, school or kindergarten.
- Go and check it: a “Priedanga” (shelter) sign does not guarantee that the place is unlocked, accessible to people with disabilities or not overcrowded.
- Have a backup place in case the first is closed or too far.
- All places are saved on your phone, so you will see them even when the network or power is down.
Shelter, KAS shelter or underground car park
- Shelter — a place to hide briefly from an immediate threat, for example when an air raid alert is announced. In Lithuania the map shows 6,583.
- KAS shelter (bomb shelter) — a place set aside by the municipality for staying longer during an emergency, evacuation or war. In Lithuania: 2,521.
- Underground car park — an unofficial shelter; the list is incomplete. In Lithuania: 124.
In danger, what matters is not the type of place but how fast you reach it. More in Shelter vs bomb shelter (KAS).
If there is no shelter nearby
If you cannot reach a shelter within a few minutes, stay in the building and go to a room without windows with solid walls and ceiling.
- A basement, an inner storeroom, a corridor or a bathroom without windows will do — there must be at least two walls between you and the outside.
- Avoid windows, balconies, lifts and open spaces; the top floor is not suitable.

What to avoid
Do not hide or stay near places to avoid — military, energy, oil, gas and chemical sites and the port. They are marked on the map: Places to avoid map.
